We are looking for a Financial Analyst II to join BrokerLink and work out of our Calgary, AB or Toronto, ON office on a Permanent (FT) Basis.

The Financial Analyst II will be a data focused position and responsible for providing day to day support to the Financial Planning & Analysis team as well as independently preparing monthly financial reports and management reports. The role will further support the team by collaborating with ongoing special projects and producing ad-hoc analysis as required. The role requires an individual that is skilled working with large data sets and has the ability to manipulate the data into actionable business intelligence the organization can readily use.

What the Role Entails:

  • Run the weekly sales report and monitor the growth versus prior year and plan. Check and validate the data. Investigate any discrepancy
  • Process the production data from acquisitions out of the broker management system, map their data to the broker management system codes and merge them into the production
  • Run pre-month end Production - General Ledger reconciliation to investigate any discrepancies and make corrections
  • Run the month-end reports including production, income statement, and book of business, and update all the reports that are linked to them
  • Reconcile the commission revenue generated by our carriers; investigate the out of benchmark variances
  • Work on ad-hoc reports and analysis requests from managers/leadership
  • Assist with quarterly internal and external audits
  • Optimize/develop/implement data gathering and organizing processes from multiple databases into predetermined management information reporting processes
  • Prepare monthly financial information and management reports
  • Collaborate on special projects on an ongoing basis
  • Actively challenge operational/business processes and data processing best practices.

The Successful candidate will have:

  • Post Secondary education in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
  • 3+ years of similar work experience
  • Strong Data reconciliation skills, and the ability to work with large-data sets.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience working with Oracle or other large-scale Enterprise Performance Management system considered an asset
  • Ability to manage workload and absorb ad-hoc projects
  • Organizational skills, able to prioritize
  • Analytical and decision-making skills with attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of accounting concepts
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Positive team player while working independently
  • High degree of professionalism and accountability
