This position reports to a Service Manager and supports the Authorized Provider Network and Claimant Services. A high level of commitment is required to provide excellent client service in a very busy and demanding environment.

Your Physical Therapy Consultant responsibilities:

  • Reviews requests for approval of treatment extensions of community physical therapy services as well as acupuncture services.

  • Provides recommendations for the most appropriate and timely services for the client based on reported clinical findings.

  • Provides advice and recommendations according to contract expectations.

  • Communicates verbally or in writing to Claimant Services and authorized physical therapy providers.

  • Consults with authorized and non-authorized physical therapy and/or acupuncture providers, occupational therapists and physical therapists in hospital settings, Return to Work Assessment and Program providers.

  • Supports program evaluation and monitors contract compliance.

  • Meets and consults with Community PT providers.

  • Reviews research, physical therapy protocols, physical therapy programs and related technologies providing input for consideration by management.

Your experience and skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy; a Masters' Degree is desirable.

  • Active registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta, in good standing, is required is preferred.

  • Considerable experience within physical therapy practice; experience or interest in interdisciplinary rehabilitation and the sports medicine approach to occupational rehabilitation are required.

  • An understanding and knowledge of WCB policies and procedures.

  • Highly respected and credible within the physical therapy community.

  • To avoid potential conflict of interest, incumbent is not an elected member of the PACA Board of Directors.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict management skills required.

  • A strong team player and collaborative communication skills.

  • Strong ability to problem-solve independently.

  • High levels of diplomacy and negotiation skills are required.

  • Excellent keyboarding skills.

Salary: Grade H5M - $45.24 to $58.16 per hour

In accordance with the Collective Agreement between HSAA and WCB (Millard Health)

These are casual positions. The successful candidates would need to be available to work daytime shifts during the week and must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person in our Edmonton locations. Final candidates are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment.
