Currently, Bissell Centre is looking for an individual wanting to join our Analysis & Evaluation team. Are you ready to be our Student Database Administrator and make an impact in our community?

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Manager, the Database Administrator will oversee the migration of legacy data to Microsoft Dataverse, ensuring smooth integration with Power Apps and Power BI reporting. This includes data extraction, transformation, and loading, as well as resolving import/export issues and validating data integrity. The administrator will collaborate with stakeholders to test and monitor the migration process, ensuring accurate data mapping and formatting. Additionally, they will maintain detailed documentation on migration steps, challenges, and solutions for continuous optimization.

This position will be funded by the Venture for Canada Student Internship program. To qualify for this grant applicants must be either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee. They must also be enrolled full-time in an accredited Canadian college or university.

WHAT IS THE ROLE

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration of legacy data to Microsoft Dataverse, ensuring smooth integration with Power Apps and Power BI for reporting purposes.
  • Extract, transform, and load data from legacy systems into Dataverse, ensuring accuracy and alignment with target formats.
  • Validate data integrity during migration and troubleshoot any discrepancies or errors in data imports and exports, ensuring successful transfers between systems.
  • Monitor and track the progress of data migration, ensuring it is completed within the agreed timeline and meets quality standards.
  • Set up monitoring processes for post-migration performance, optimizing data flows and implementing best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, map data, test migration, and maintain documentation.
  • Provide support in the creation of Power BI reports as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required

Formal Education and Experience

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee.
  • Enrolled full-time in an accredited Canadian college or university.
  • Actively working towards a diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science or a related field (2nd year or higher).
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Dataverse and Power Apps integration, with hands-on experience in data management and migration.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dataverse for data storage and integration.
  • Experience with data migration, mapping, troubleshooting and validating large datasets.
  • Knowledge of data import/export tools and resolving related issues.
  • Proficient in SQL and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Skilled in maintaining documentation for knowledge sharing.
  • Knowledge of Power BI is an asset.

Working Conditions

This position is fully remote.

This position will foster a collaborative work culture between the Analysis & Evaluation team.

Flexibility of the working week is inherent in this position. Flexibility to work a combination of weekdays and weekends may be required, with a focus on work-life balance.
