Abbotsford Regional Hospital and the surrounding Health Service Area are looking for a Geriatrician to join our team in beautiful British Columbia!

Abbotsford, BC is along the banks of the beautiful Fraser River with incredibly diverse natural scenery from riverbanks to the Cascade Mountain Range, and lots of outdoor recreation opportunities. With sweeping rural areas, an abundance of green spaces, and a strong local economy, Abbotsford is one of British Columbia’s most affordable major cities. Situated close to the highway, an easy commute from most cities in the lower mainland, Abbotsford Regional Hospital is a large regional hospital and cancer centre that provides a range of health services.

Fraser Health is one of Canada’s fastest growing health authorities, serving over one third of the population in British Columbia. The Department of Geriatrics in Fraser Health is a diverse group of geriatricians and care of the elderly physicians serving a large region. Our hospitals are affiliated with the University of British Columbia and offer opportunities for clinical practice, as well as teaching and academic research.

This is a part time permanent position (0.5 FTE) expanding existing geriatric services at a site with an already active specialized seniors clinic with interdisciplinary geriatric team support and an inpatient consultation service. This involves consultative inpatient activities at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and ambulatory practice. There is no expected weekend or evening call. There may also be opportunity to add a 0.2 FTE position at Mission Memorial Hospital specialized seniors clinic doing outpatient consultative work and/or separately do inpatient general internal medicine work at Abbotsford Regional Hospital, if the applicant is interested.

The successful candidate will join our current geriatricians in Abbotsford and contribute to academic and teaching components of the Service.

Qualifications:

  • Eligibility for or active FRCPC Geriatric Medicine
  • Eligibility for or active full license to practice in BC
  • Eligibility to apply for a clinical faculty appointment with the University of British Columbia.
  • Strong collaborative interpersonal and inter-disciplinary skills
