Job Summary

Abbotsford Regional Hospital is looking to hire two to three consultant pediatricians, with or without subspecialty interest, to support a busy regional pediatric service providing care to a catchment area of 300,000. Our group consists of seven community pediatricians with two additional providing call coverage support. Current members have subspecialty training in Neurology, Nephrology and Endocrinology. The program provides a mixture of inpatient work, with a ten-bed pediatric ward with the ability to accommodate 16 patients during the busy winter months. The ward is shared with surgeons and psychiatrists who provide care to pediatric patients. There is a ten-bed level IIA nursery providing care within the Fraser Health Neonatal Network. The busy single-room maternity unit supports close to 3000 deliveries a year. There is a four-bed Pediatrics pod in the ER, a six-bed day treatment unit, as well as four-room ambulatory clinic area which houses Endocrinology, Asthma, Cardiology, Hematology and general consultation clinics. In the last year we have also added an Urgent Consult Clinic. The successful applicant is also expected to take part in the Pediatrician of the Week hospitalist program.

We support all levels of medical education, including medical students, an in-house family practice program plus pediatric residents.

Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre is a 302 bed, University of British Columbia affiliated hospital offering a full range of adult services as well as critical care support. There are Level II Maternity, Infant Child, Youth Services, as well as 24/7 emergency services with 77,032 visits annually.

The hospital recently underwent a renovation and redesign of its Emergency Department that now includes a dedicated area for mental health and substance use care, a new nursing substation, and a relocated ambulance bay, among other features, to help improve patient flow and experience.

  • CPSBC US certified class of registration acceptable
