Job Summary

Fraser Heath is seeking to fill a Medical Lead position which will oversee Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health Services (DDMHS) physicians and provide medical leadership to the team, in collaboration with team Coordinators and Manager. This position reports to Regional Department Head/Program Medical Director for Mental Health and Psychiatry.

Clinical Leadership

Clinical Oversight

  • Supervise and provide direction for all clinical aspects of the DDMHS team.

Quality Assurance

  • Develop and maintain a quality improvement program to monitor and evaluate patient care outcomes.
  • Ensure that all clinical interventions meet the highest standards of safety and efficacy.

Team Management

  • Oversee physician workforce and advise on recruitment needs.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance feedback to the DDMHS team members.
  • Co-facilitate with operations leadership team meetings to discuss cases, share knowledge, and promote continuous learning.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints.
  • Supervise medical education within team including the organization of DDMHS continued medical education activities.
  • Oversee DDMHS physician scheduling and coverage.
  • Chair DDMHS Division Physician Meetings.

Program Development

  • Co-lead with operational leadership the development and execution of a comprehensive program evaluation plan.
  • Use data-driven insights to inform service delivery and quality improvement initiatives.

Administrative Duties

Policy Development:

  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures for the DDMHS program.
  • Ensure all clinical activities are compliant with health authority regulations and standards.

Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation of reports on program activities, outcomes, and strategic developments for stakeholders and funding bodies.
  • Manage the program psychiatry budget and ensure resource allocation aligns with service delivery needs.

Deliverables

Program Report:

  • Detailing clinical outcomes, operational challenges, and strategic initiatives.

Quality Improvement Plan:

  • Developed, with measurable targets and outcomes.
  • Report on DDMHS Quality Improvement activities.

Clinical Protocols and Guidelines:

  • Regular updates to ensure current and best practice.

Training Curriculum:

  • Development and ongoing refinement of educational materials and training modules.
  • Attend regional FHA MHSU department and quality meetings.
  • Attend DDMHS leadership meetings.

Recruitment will proceed as per the FHA Medical Staff Bylaws.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Valid licensure to practice medicine in British Columbia, Canada.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in Developmental Disorder Psychiatry
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Established commitment to professional development and ongoing learning.
