Fraser Health – Langley Memorial Hospital & Langley Community
Fraser Health requires a part-time (0.6 FTE) palliative care physicians to provide clinical service along with our multidisciplinary team located in Langley, B.C. This is an exciting opportunity, where you will work alongside other palliative care physicians to provide Most Responsible Provider (MRP) coverage at Langley Hospice (15 beds), and consultation services to acute care and community-based patients.
Throughout the Fraser Health Authority we provide integrated, regional, comprehensive palliative care services in a number of settings including 30 Palliative Complex Care Unit (PCCU) beds; consult services in 12 acute care sites as well as in the community and other settings; and support to 106 hospice beds. Additionally, we provide under-graduate and post-graduate teaching in affiliation with the Division of Palliative Care at the University of British Columbia.
As a community hospital, Langley Memorial Hospital (188 bed facility) provides a range of primary, secondary and some specialty services, including 24/7 emergency, general and internal medicine, general surgery, select surgical specialties, and maternity and nursery specialties.
The City of Langley is one of Metro Vancouver’s dynamic and thriving Regional City Centres. Langley contains six established residential neighbourhoods, a natural wetland of regional significance, parkland exceeding 300 acres, high density residential development, a revitalized pedestrian-oriented downtown, a regional shopping centre and one of the most active industrial and service commercial land bases found in the Lower Mainland.
The successful candidate will have certification from either the College of Family Physicians of Canada or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Preference will be provided to individuals who have completed additional training in Palliative Medicine, from either stream outlined below:
- One year enhanced skills residency and acquired the Certificate of Added Competence (CAC) through the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
- Two year Royal College subspecialty in Palliative Medicine.
Eligibility for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia is required.
Remuneration is by service contract at a rate set provincially by the Ministry of Health.
