Description

The Residential Services Supervisor provides a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Residential Services Manager with the day-to-day management of the Gateway of Hope Emergency Shelter, relief shelter, and Extreme Weather staffing maintaining statistics and BC Housing database.
  • In conjunction with the Residential Services Manager, participate in the candidate interview process for employees the residential services team
  • In consultation with the Residential Services Manager, fulfill management responsibilities in the hiring, encouraging, supervising, and performance management of staff reporting to you.
  • Provide direction, support and leadership to employees through individual coaching and daily observation.
  • Oversee the scheduling of staff and the reconciling of hours, and be responsible for on-call schedule (sick time, vacation, EWR, etc).
  • Oversee that policies, standards and procedures are being consistently followed.
  • Review guest files, overview the process of investigating and approving or denying guest extension requests.
  • Oversee the care and safety of guests.
  • Provide back up support to and when required assume functions of staff.
  • Performs other assigned duties as required to ensure a safe and secure environment

HOURS:

  • Temporary part time for the duration of the Extreme Weather Response Season (November 1, 2024 - April 15, 2025
  • Hours: Saturday & Sunday 9: 00 am - 5:00 pm some evening and early morning shifts may be required; hours subject to change
  • Saturday & Sunday on-call duties

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to supervise, coach and lead a small team
  • Strong service ethic and a friendly disposition with the public
  • Adaptability to change and frequent interruptions
  • Team oriented and able to take initiative
  • At least two years' experience working in an Emergency Shelter or similar environment
  • Criminal Record Check
  • CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training an asset
