Palliative Medicine

Fraser Health – Maple Ridge

Fraser Health requires a part-time (0.8 FTE) Palliative Care Physician to provide clinical service along with our multidisciplinary team located in Maple Ridge, B.C. This is an exciting opportunity, where you will work alongside other palliative care physicians to provide Most Responsible Provider (MRP) coverage in McKenney Creek Hospice, and consultation services to both acute care and community-based patients.

Throughout the Fraser Health Authority we provide integrated, regional, comprehensive palliative care services in a number of settings including 30 Palliative Complex Care Unit (PCCU) beds; consult services in 12 acute care sites as well as in the community and other settings; and support to 106 hospice beds. Additionally, we provide under-graduate and post-graduate teaching in affiliation with the Division of Palliative Care at the University of British Columbia.

Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge is a 125 bed; University of British Columbia affiliated hospital offering medical, surgical, as well as 24/7 emergency services.

Maple Ridge is located in the northeastern section of Greater Vancouver between the Fraser River and the Golden Ears, which is a group of mountain summits which are the southernmost of the Garibaldi Ranges of the Coast Mountains.

The successful candidate will have certification from either the College of Family Physicians of Canada or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Preference will be provided to individuals who have completed additional training in Palliative Medicine, from either stream outlined below:

  • One year enhanced skills residency and acquired the Certificate of Added Competence (CAC) through the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
  • Two year Royal College subspecialty in Palliative Medicine.

Eligibility for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia is required.

Remuneration is by service contract at a rate set provincially by the Ministry of Health.
