Detailed Overview

The Coordinator, Research Education & Communications plans, coordinates and evaluates research education programs and services including skill training workshops, Researchers' Cafes, and Research Week. Reviews and advises on research education content, develops research education design in consultation with staff, assesses needs for research education programs/services/products, evaluates implementation and outcomes of research education curriculum, and researches and advises on suggested research topics and speakers. Plans, develops, and implements a research communication strategy, and promotional and communications materials. Coordinates and administers research conferences, and educational and project-related events.


Responsibilities


  1. Liaises and collaborates with internal and external partners to support the development, evaluation, and enhancement of research education and knowledge dissemination.
  2. Develops, designs, and implements research education curriculum, skills training workshops, Researchers' Cafes, Research Week and other proposed education programs for the department.
  3. Evaluates research education events by assessing feedback, and reviewing and analyzing implementation and outcomes. Develops recommendations for improvement and future planning.
  4. Assesses and identifies demand and need for research education topics and researches available resources (e.g. speakers, topic experts) that are in keeping with research education trends and best practices.
  5. Develops, implements, and evaluates a communications strategy related to research education and works in collaboration with Fraser Health Communications and Public Affairs.
  6. Develops research, promotional and knowledge dissemination materials (e.g. Research Summaries and Abstracts) using industry standard software and design/communication principles.
  7. Establishes and updates research website and website content for the department.
  8. Develops and supports an online education registration and database system.
  9. Coordinates, administers and participates in research conferences, educational events or project related events. Monitors budget expenditures to ensure fiscal guidelines are followed and provides contract, budget and summary information related to research education activities.
  10. Acts as Fraser Health representative on committees as required.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in health science, communications, education or research-related discipline with 2 years of recent related experience in research education, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of research education and communications modalities.
  • Knowledge of research dissemination and transfer practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively including ability to develop and maintain rapport with internal and external partners.
  • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and applicable software applications.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
