We are seeking an exceptional physician leader to join our team as a Medical Director (MD), Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). You will provide regional leadership to support the successful delivery of a care and service network within Fraser Health from a medical staff perspective. This medical leadership position reports to the Regional Medical Director (RMD) and Regional Department Head (RDH), Palliative Medicine. You will be accountable for defining medical care and practice standards, supporting standardization across the program and monitoring performance against standards. This is a three (3) year term of appointment, renewable by the RMD and RDH, Palliative Medicine. Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit physicians and Nurse Practitioners for MAiD assessment and provision.
- Support the development of education for MAiD to FHA staff across the region.
- Provide education sessions for medical staff in FHA through grand rounds, meetings, and other venues.
- Provide education to Divisions of Family Practice on MAiD through collaboration with the divisions and their geographically distributed physicians.
- Chair the MAiD Quality Review committee for MAID.
- Work with the quality improvement consultants to ensure tracking and resolution of MAiD quality issues.
- Provide mentorship and preceptorship for new providers for MAiD.
- Represent FHA on the provincial working group for MAiD led by the Ministry of Health.
- Support the MAiD Care Coordination centre in FHA by providing medical direction and leadership.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for the MAiD service in FHA.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Eligibility for membership on the Fraser Health Medical Staff
- Five (5) years' leadership experience within the healthcare sector and experience in hospital based leadership.
- A Master's degree in health administration or business administration (optional).
- Additional leadership training is preferred.
- Experience with budgetary and operational planning is desirable.
