The Medical Leader role is a new and exciting opportunity that will provide leadership and direction to engagement and education around Palliative Care within Fraser Health (FH). You will collaborate with the Regional Medical Director for the Palliative Care Network, fellow physician leaders and other clinical staff, to contribute to the development and spread of Palliative Care tools and resources specifically for physicians and other clinicians.
This role is a 0.2 FTE position, in which you will provide support to the:
- Introduction and roll out of HOMR (Hospitalized One-year Mortality Risk Calculation Tool),
- Planning the annual network educational event,
- Addressing the need for clinical education in allied health staff and arranging educational days,
- Coordinating the regional Journal Club,
- Other duties and projects that arise, as per agreement with the RMD.
Along with the two Educational CNS's, you will help develop regional standards, spread best practices, and research opportunities (as appropriate). Your knowledge of patient care issues especially regarding communication, prognosis, and trajectory of care, would be key and benefit you in collaborating with multiple stakeholders. Hours are flexible and travel may be required.
Overview
The Medical Leader, Clinical Education (Palliative Medicine) is a physician who has a passion for enabling colleagues to deliver exemplary palliative care within all settings of care in Fraser Health.
This position will report to the Regional Medical Director (RMD) of the Palliative Care Network and collaborate with other Regional Medical Directors and Department Heads as appropriate.
Effective Delivery of Clinical Services
- Ensures that practices with FH are consistent with best clinical practises for Palliative Medicine
- Support physician education and practice to improve communication, support shared decision making and ensure delivery of person-centred care with Fraser Health.
Quality Monitoring/Improvement
- Collaborates with the CNS for Education and relevant physician stakeholders, to lead and support multidisciplinary quality improvement activities (as appropriate).
- Investigates medical complaints in conjunction with RMD/Regional Department Heads in the region (as appropriate).
