Position: Lighting Operator

Department: Production Technology

Reports To: Sr. Manager, Projects, Events, Production Technology

POSITION SUMMARY:

The lighting operator is required for each game to operate a preprogrammed light show that is executed before the game starts, this is for both hockey and lacrosse. There are complex timecoded sequences, using a go command, and basic programming required for each game. Rehearsals pregame allow time to build anything required before show, such as an Anthem singer needing to be lit in a different position. The MA lighting console controls the lighting, ice projection and triggers other external show elements via DMX. Cross training for projection as a second lighting position will be a part of this job.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(Other duties may be assigned, as required)

  • Proficient in MA2 Lighting console show playback
  • Basic understanding of MA2 programing
  • Experience in operating lighting for live shows
  • Experience in calling cues for follow spots
  • Provide technical Support to various operational and event requests
  • Assist in setting up and troubleshooting LED DJ booth
  • Set up lights for roaming acts
  • Set-up, operate, and troubleshoot a variety of Lighting equipment
  • Participate in cross training as assigned
  • Keep gear in good condition and report any damage
  • Maintain lighting booth, including day to day tidiness, requisitions for new or replacement tools, equipment, and supplies

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 or more years of work experience with MA2
  • Strong knowledge of light fixtures, handling, troubleshooting and repairs
  • Physical abilities to reasonably handle physical aspects of lighting system maintenance
  • Must be okay with heights, as some work will be on the catwalk.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required by the event schedule
