JOB PURPOSE
- To coordinate the care of each patient's needs through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The needs of the family will be identified, and the appropriate resources notified.
- Attendance at high-risk deliveries, providing up to and including Level 3 newborn care maintaining the Mother-Baby dyad as care requirements indicate.
- As a member of an interdisciplinary team, provides quality patient care within the scope of professional nursing practice to patients and their families, including practice of Family Integrated Care supporting newborn care education.
- The successful candidate will be required to complete orientation to provide care during caesarean sections and newborn care in the postoperative period. Although primarily assigned to Neonatal ICU the incumbent will be required to work within the Women and Children's Health Program as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Active registration with NANB
- Current BCLS certification
- One (1) year of experience in Neonatal Intensive nursing and/or two (2) years of Medical/Surgical nursing which includes care of pediatric age children
- Neonatal Resuscitation Certification required within (6) six months of hire
- Breast feeding training completed within 1st year of hire
- Initiate Advanced Level Neonatal orientation within (1) one year and completed by (2) two years of hire
- Demonstrate communication, interpersonal, teaching and team building skills
- Demonstrate assessment skills and ability to function independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrate ability to respond to emergency situations, rapidly changing priorities, and complex patient situations
- Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform the duties of the position.
