Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Food & Beverage, this position is responsible for serving the guests at a counter, in a restaurant, buffet operation, coffee shop, on a casino floor, in a bar, at a banquet, in a theatre, in in-room dining or other areas. Ensures adherence to all polices and procedures while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members. Ensures adherence to the Company's policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadian's learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.
Key Accountabilities
Greets guests by name wherever possible
Escorts guests to a table when applicable; presents menus; informs guests of daily specials
Explains how various menu items or beverages are prepared
Takes the guest orders; makes recommendations
Serves the guests; checks to ensure satisfaction
Prepares food and beverages if applicable
Resolves guests issues or asks management for assistance
Presents bill upon request; takes payment in the absence of a cashier
Cleans table s or counters; removes dishes; re-stocks where applicable
Delivers food to hotel rooms as directed; obtains signature; removes used trays
Performs opening or closing duties as required
Counts cash float at end of shift when a applicable
Covers other servers sections when required
Exercises good judgment when serving alcoholic beverages
Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, ownership and team members
Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
Performs other duties as assigned or directed
Education and Qualifications
High School Diploma
Minimum 1 year serving experience effective and service oriented communication
POS experience
Food Safety Certification
Ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License
Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely,
Work Environment Considerations
Regular casino, restaurant or bar environment, standing and walking for long periods of time, some exposure to noise, odors; lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, stretching, some exposure to verbal abuse, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, stretching, non-traditional work hours
