What you will be doing

  • Monitor recreational sports programs, ensuring safe and cooperative play
  • Ensure a safe and clean program area
  • Communication with supervisory staff, co-workers, and liaising with partnering program staff and volunteers
  • Ensure health and safety standards and agency policies and procedures are followed
  • Appropriately deal with accidents/incidents as required
  • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation
  • Provide a high level of front line customer service including greeting and engaging participants
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (e.g. attendance, incident/accident reports)
  • Maintain a safe and tidy program space ensuring equipment is set-up and stored appropriately
  • Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor and take appropriate action
  • Participates in training/in-service as required, occasionally outside of regular working hours

Education

  • Experience working with all ages in a sport program setting
  • Proven experience supervising sport programs
  • Ability to resolve conflicts in an appropriate manner
  • Outgoing, enthusiastic and energetic personality
  • Self-Motivation and able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment

We are looking for these certificates

Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED

We will ask you for these items if you are hired

Current and valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check to be provided prior to commencement in this position.
Proof of your current and valid certificate(s) and/or educational qualifications.
Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training certificate from the Ministry of Labour. (may be obtained post offer)

Rate of pay

The hourly rate for this position is $17.20.

Hours of work

Hours of work are dependent on the number of participants taking part in our programs; as such, there are no minimum hours associated with this position. Work schedule may include weekdays and weekend as well as evening hours.
