JOB SUMMARY

The Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is responsible for building a healthy, inclusive and vibrant City, as well as ensuring that communities, residents and visitors have access to the recreation and cultural places, programs, events and services that allow them to experience all the benefits the City has to offer, and overseeing Buildings and Facilities Management for improved service delivery integration, ensuring the best possible client experience in City facilities.

You are responsible for the design, development, execution, and evaluation of an arts program, which involves theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, media arts, and/or arts education at multiple facilities/venues. You secure and allocate resource materials, program venues, staff, volunteers, artists, and equipment. You also hire and supervise arts instructors or related program staff, create partnerships, and secure grants, sponsorship and/or marketing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

College or university student enrolled and/or practicing in of the following disciplines: theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, media arts.

Minimum 2 years of practicing and/or teaching experience in related discipline, with the technical skills and training required to safely use specialized equipment, i.e. pottery kilns, wheels, lighting, sets. Previous experience working with children in a recreation setting, arts centre or event

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
AODA Customer Service/IASR Training

KNOWLEDGE

  • Excellent knowledge of community centres Knowledge of interpretive techniques in related disciplines
  • Excellent knowledge of local arts community an asset
  • Strong knowledge of developing training program for instructors and/or volunteers
  • Program design, development and evaluation
  • Project management practices
  • Performs work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all City of Ottawa corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety Completion of health and safety training required by legislation and by the Corporation of the City of Ottawa

  • Language Requirement:Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
