Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel is seeking a Part-time Maintenance Technician!

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor/Manager, the Maintenance Technician will perform, manage and prioritize all assigned maintenance work. The Maintenance Technician will perform various duties in all areas of building maintenance including but not limited to: Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, Painting/Drywall repair, HVAC Systems, Water Supply and Treatment, Good Housekeeping practices and a safe work attitude is essential.

The ideal candidate is an energetic professional with proven knowledge, skills and abilities, executing the following in support of the company's vision, mission and values:

  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills are required to be displayed at all times.
  • Perform carpentry duties such as assemble/repair broken equipment or furniture, install shelving/cabinets, hang photos and perform minor building projects as required.
  • Ensure casino building schematics are kept current and up to date.
  • Perform minor plumbing duties including but not limited to: Inspect and replace broken or defective pipes and toilet components, repair minor water leaks, unclog drains etc.
  • Perform minor electrical duties such as daily inspection of interior/exterior lighting, install electrical outlets, light fixtures, bulbs, etc.
  • Minor painting and/or drywall repairs as required.
  • Inspect heating and air conditioning systems
  • Perform daily inspections of pumps and conduct periodic purification otesting of main water supply system and site sweage treatment plant.
  • Perform snow removal, salt walkways, grass cutting and waste disposal as required.
  • Report all deficiencies and provide recommendations on corrective action to Facilities Supervisor/Manager
  • Act as a designated liaison for all outside service contractors working on the premises. Ensure all contractors perform their work in compliance with all applicable Health & Safety regulations.
  • Report any hazards or health and safety contraventions to the Facilities Supervisor/Manager immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor/Manager

Successful applicants will demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance within a commercial environment
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be in possession of a valid trade certificate (ie. Building Maintenance Mechanic, Electrician, Plumber, Carpenter, Millwright)
  • WHMIS Certified
  • Water and Wastewater treatment certification preferred
  • Previous Casino maintenance experience preferred
  • Hypochlorination certification required.
  • Experience in all areas of maintenance repairs including; plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, drywall and painting.
  • Must have a class G driver's license with a good driver abstract.
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, WHIM, National Fire Code and the OHSA Industrial Regulations is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in commercial H.V.A.C operation and maintenance
  • Operating knowledge of building automation and control systems
  • Knowledge of Fire and Life Safety equipment including sprinkler suppression systems, electronic detection systems and related valves and pumps
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and independently
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, ladders and elevated devices
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • The ability to successfully pass a criminal record and credit check through the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO)
