About this Job

We are seeking a dynamic Teaching and Marking Assistant to join our School of Nursing team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the academic success and learning experience of nursing students. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty and students, supporting classroom instruction, grading, and other academic activities in alignment with the university’s educational goals.

Job Responsibilities:

oCollaborate with faculty and students to discuss grades, course content, and other academic

matters.

oAssist in the evaluation of student work following criteria set by the supervising faculty.

oProvide academic support through tutoring and teaching nursing skills in classroom or lab environments.

oParticipate in course marking activities, including grading quizzes, assignments, tests, and exams.

oEnsure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all members of the university community.

Qualifications:

oEducational Background:

-A degree in nursing or a related field is preferred. o Skills & Experience:

- Experience or knowledge of pedagogy, including course preparation, teaching strategies, and evaluation methods.

- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant at the post-secondary level is preferred. - Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and oral). - Familiarity with health and safety practices in educational or clinical settings.

- Training in English as a Second Language (ESL) is an asset.

Working Conditions

Office hours are 8:30-4:30 with occasional evening events

Office environment.

Note:

oFull-time graduate students may not engage in university employment exceeding 10 hours per week or 130 hours per semester (as per OCGS regulations).

oHolding both a Teaching Assistant and Faculty Appointment simultaneously is not permitted.

oEmployment is contingent on budgetary approval and adequate enrolment levels.
