BGC St. Alban's Club is looking for enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated individuals to work in our STARS After School programs - Satellite Location: Rawlinson Community School. Your role as a Program Mentor will be to provide a safe and supportive environment for the Club's participants. This program is designed for children aged 4-12 years. Program components include education, recreation, social activities, sports, health and nutrition, mentoring and the arts.


Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize and lead a group of children in a group setting.
  • Ensure that you are creating a safe and enjoyable environment for participants.
  • Create and facilitate fun, creative and inclusive activities for all participants.
  • Ensure that all equipment and supplies are in safe working condition.
  • Complete appropriate administrative tasks in a timely manner (ie attendances and head counts).
  • Developing and planning programs for children between the ages of 4 and 12 years.
  • Ensuring programs are safe, age-appropriate, non-competitive, inclusive, innovative and skilled-based in nature.
  • Help to ensure the safety and security of the members and assist in responding to critical incidents as outlined in the Club's policies and procedures.
  • Maintain Health & Safety standards in accordance to the Club's Covid-19 Safety Protocols.
  • Participate in staff training and orientation sessions.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of participants at all times by strictly following guidelines and procedures. (ie headcounts)
  • Dealing with conflicts and behavior management immediately using corrective techniques as discussed in training.
  • Report to and takes direction from Program Manager and Supervisors.
  • Do other related tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain professional relationships with peers, members, volunteers, parents and other Club members.
  • This position requires after school hours and may require PA Day or occasional evening hours for special events, training, etc.


Qualifications:

  • Educational background applicable to the position.
  • Experience working with children 4 to 12 years old.
  • Strong skills in one or more of the following areas: sports, arts, swimming, recreation, education, health and nutrition.
  • Ability to work as team members in a dynamic, complex environment.
  • Strong supervision and program planning skills
  • Good decision making and problem solving skills
  • Covid-19 Vaccination Required.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
  • Police Reference Check (to be completed upon hiring)
  • HIGH FIVE- Principles of Healthy Child Development training

HOURLY WAGE: $16.20-$17.20/hr

Hours: Monday to Friday between the hours of approximately 2:30pm-6:00pm.
