Salary: $20.60 per hour (to commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN Compensation Policy)
Hours: Variable; minimum of 1 shift per week (7.5 hours up to 37.5 hours per week)
Shifts: Variable 24/7
Status: Temporary Part Time (until April 2025)

TeamJDMI is currently accepting applications from MRT and DMS Students for our Extern program. The Junior Extern, Medical Imaging Technologist, will be working as part of an interdisciplinary team in the capacity of an unregulated health care provider. The junior extern practices under direct and/or indirect supervision of the regulated health care professionals (MRT, DMS or RN) assigned to them, and externs are not permitted to perform any controlled acts. Externs may be assigned to any area of medical imaging, including general radiography, CT, ultrasound, MRI, molecular imaging, PET, or breast imaging.

The scheduling of these hours will be determined based on JDMI needs. Externs may be assigned to imaging-related tasks involving DICOM datasets, medical imaging operational or research data, or supporting patient navigation in any of our clinical areas.

Duties

  • Work in collaboration with regulated and unregulated health care professionals in their assigned area
  • Assist with department data entry and management of department database
  • Support quality assurance processes by compiling and organizing relevant data.
  • Work with department Radiology Information System (RIS), including deidentification of DICOM images for education purposes
  • Basic data entry and analysis of RIS, billing, or other data to support research, education, or IT teams
  • Other duties as assigned to support the medical imaging team

Qualifications

Students must be in the didactic years of:

  • Radiological Technology (Y1-2), Nuclear Medicine (Y1-2) in the Medical Radiation Sciences Program between the Michener Institute of Education at UHN and the University of Toronto
  • or in Ultrasound (Y1) at the Michener Institute of Education at UHN
  • Minimum availability of 1 shift per week (preference for 2-3)
  • The majority of shifts would be available during weekday business hours
  • Flexibility for partial shifts to accommodate academic commitments is possible
