Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Housekeeping, this position is responsible for daily cleaning and maintenance of all public areas of the hotel while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment. Ensures adherence to the Company's policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadian's learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.

Key Accountabilities

  • Performs general maintenance and upcoming of site property, including regular compliance inspections and preventative care.
  • Maintains site in a clean, hygienic manner ensuring environment is safe and hazard free.
  • Upholds safety and security standards of the corporation including use of personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • Assist in maintaining good public relations with patrons by ensuring customer service standards are achieved.
  • Responsible for washroom repairs such as daily preventative maintenance of washroom fixtures; changing of hand soap/hand sanitizer; unclogging toilets and sinks using various tools and equipment; changing/replacing burnt out light bulbs; other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Comply with safety procedures including use of required safety equipment and identify unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Ensures any trip or fall hazards are identified, i.e. wet floors or stairs. Ensures hallways and access routes are free of debris and waste.
  • Is responsible for ensuring that said duties are carried out in compliance with departmental or Internal Control Manual policies and procedures.
  • Promote and maintain the utmost integrity and the highest caliber of customer service and respect all patrons, team members and casino personnel.
  • Occasionally, as directed by supervisor leads will be required to assist with the cleaning of sections on and off the gaming floor, which includes but is not limited to: cleaning of slot machines, cleaning of washrooms; replenishing supplies; removal of waste; cleaning of designated smoking areas; and dusting, vacuuming and mopping
  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Experience working in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Being customer-focused and having the capacity to handle situations that demand diplomacy, tact, approachability, and assertiveness.
  • Understand and adhere to established policies and procedures, including emergency procedures. (Familiarization with the location of exits and use of emergency equipment.)
  • Ability to lift 20 kilograms.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills, coupled with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Show commitment to personal growth, development, and leadership opportunities.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate well.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset but not required.

Work Environment Considerations

  • Work within a 24/7 operation with ability to work flexible hours when required (days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays)
  • Willing to submit to a criminal record check with results acceptable to our organization, standards and position.
