Job Description

Site: Toronto Western Hospital
Department: Pulmonary Function Lab
Reports to: Clinical Manager
Hours: 15 - 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $32.87 - $41.09 hourly (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Status: Permanent Part-Time
Shifts: Days
Closing Date: October 31, 2024

Position Summary

As a member of the Pulmonary Function Lab, the Pulmonary Function Technologist is required to perform a range of duties requiring knowledge in support of an assigned nursing or other clinical unit. The Pulmonary Function Technologist will perform various duties to assist patients, nurses and other clinical units to for any information sharing and administrative work.

Duties

  • Performing various diagnostic lung tests on patients and cleaning and calibration of equipment under supervision of the technologist
  • Attending program of lectures on theory of testing
  • Preparing for registry exam
  • Provide and communicate any information to the patients, the Pulmonary Function Lab, and those working in collaboration

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years experience in the Pulmonary Function lab preferred
  • B.Sc. in Human Physiology, Biology, Kinesiology, or equivalent required
  • Registered with the Canadian Association of Cardio Pulmonary Technologist (CACPT)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of applicable Hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols and practices
  • Satisfactory attendance
  • Previous experience working with patients in a hospital environment preferred
