Job Description

Union: ONA (Job-Share)
Site: Princess Margaret Cancer Centre
Department: Radiation Therapy
Reports to: Manager
Hours: 22.5 hours per week
Wage range: $42.18 to $56.60 per hour. Start rate non-negotiable.
Status: Permanent Part-Time
Closing Date: April 25, 2025

Position Summary

While you may be assigned to a specific team, you will be expected to contribute to the successful functioning of all teams, to ensure safe, timely and accurate radiation therapy of all patients. The radiation therapist may participate in one or more of a range of activities within the full scope of radiation therapy practice. You will be expected to demonstrate and maintain expert knowledge of state-of-the-art radiation therapy techniques and technology to ensure safe, timely and accurate radiation therapy of patients. You will demonstrate expertise in patient assessment and supportive care, including:

Duties

  • Patient education and symptom management.
  • Create and maintain a safe and supportive environment for a variety of learners, including students and colleagues as they engage in education and continuous practice improvement activities.
  • Expectations for academic contribution will be greater in key areas of individual expertise.
  • Practice in accordance with the CAMRT competency profile and CMRITO standards of practice and legislated regulations. Contribution to a high standard of care will be measured through knowledge and utilization of departmental protocols and professional standards of practice.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a recognized Radiation Therapy training program
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Commitment to integrated approach to education, research, and clinical practice
  • Strong work ethic, with exceptional technical, supportive care and teaching skills
  • Passionate about the profession, and committed to self-directed, life-long learning.
  • Emotionally intelligent, caring and empathetic
  • Creative, problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Evidence of commitment to team building and inter-professional teamwork
  • Ability to function independently and able to take the initiative in complex clinical situations.

  • Aligned to the mission and vision of the Radiation Medicine Program

This posting is part of a job sharing agreement and as such is subject to the terms and conditions as noted in the Job Sharing Letter of Understanding in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
