Research Assistant I Dept of Medicine Research (Job ID: 8539)
The Applied Education Research Operatives (AERO) is seeking a Research Assistant I, Temporary Casual. You will be working closely with the Research Coordinators and the Principal Investigator on a variety of projects. In the position, you will complete research activities involving reviews of literature, producing annotated bibliographies, following research procedures, screening study participants including obtaining consent, data cleaning and quality checks, and data processing.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collect, compile, update and provide basic statistical information and other data to generate and prepare reports and other documentation to support study related data, and create data abstracts.
- Collect, transcribe, organize, quality control, and enter study related data.
- Support the preparation of forms (e.g., reimbursement forms, REB applications, contract submission forms).
- Engage in data processing activities as needed for the project (i.e. Cleaning/coding data in specific programs).
- May assist research team with manuscript and report writing, including writing abstracts for conferences, and 1-page summaries; and the creation of reference manager files.
- Perform literature searches/data mining on requested topics through databases and provide relevant articles to PI or research team.
- Recruit and screen study participants through various means, sometimes in collaboration with study team or staff at participating community organizations.
- Participate in database processing and management.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
- Undergraduate Degree or 1 year of relevant experience OR demonstrable equivalent combination of specialized education and experience.
- Minimum current registration in a regional medical postgraduate program, or equivalent
- TCPS CORE 2 is required (Completed within first 2 weeks of hire).
- Health Canada Division 5 is required (Completed within first 2 weeks of hire).
- Good clinical practice certificate is an asset (Completed within first 2 weeks of hire).
- Responsible Conduct of Research is an asset.
- Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills are necessary.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner and flexibility to adapt to changing workload.
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment.
