Housekeeping Workers are responsible for performing routine manual work in the cleaning of the hospital in accordance with established methods and procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Cleans patient rooms thoroughly.
2. Perform duties such as mopping floors, washing furniture, cleaning and disinfecting, dusting, linen removal, and other general cleaning work.
3. Adheres to infection control guidelines and policies.
4. Notes and reports any repairs needed to supervisor.
5. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Physically able to perform the normal duties of the job, which includes: mopping of floors, vacuuming, bending, lifting, walking throughout shift, wiping fixtures, cleaning washrooms, cleaning in patient care areas and effective and safe operation of floor care machinery (i.e. burnishers, automatic floor scrubbers and vacuum cleaners)
• Must be able to prioritize, organize, perform and complete job responsibilities in a self-directed manner
• Must be customer-focused
• Satisfactory vulnerable person's sector criminal background check.
• Internal candidates must have satisfactory attendance and performance appraisal in current position.
• Documented commitment to continuing education through inservice, staff meetings and self-motivated learning.
• Reliable and punctual
• Excellent verbal and written communication and customer relation skills.
