Job Description: Under the direction of a Program Manager and as part of the interdisciplinary Community Outreach and Support Team (COAST), the Assessor Coordinator provides a range of screening, triage, assessment, treatment and case coordination services to a community mental health and addictions population.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities
Knowledge of a variety of mental health disorders and addiction and harm reduction strategies required to enable clients to sustain stability. Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs and support agencies is essential. Experience working with mental health and addiction community outreach and competence in delivering mental health and addiction crisis interventions. Knowledge of a variety of intervention strategies (individual and group) for individuals with mental health and addiction problems in a community based setting, including, but not limited to: assessment, triage, treatment, case management. Ability to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty across a wide range of clinical presentation and formulate evidence based intervention. Cultural competency skills. Knowledge of Recovery philosophy. Ability to work independently and in a self-motivated manner, Ability to respond under pressure. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting. Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act. Public relation skills with the ability to maintain effective work relationships. Interpersonal competence including effective problem solving; workload management and conflict resolution skills. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to prepare reports in a clear concise and timely manner. Ability to provide public presentations. Demonstrated ability to enter and retrieve data in a computer database system.
