Job Description: The Clinical Resource Nurse, is primarily responsible as a resource person for all nursing staff. The Clinical Resource Nurse will be highly visible and responsive to the needs of staff for on the spot support such as advanced problem-solving in clinical situations, mentorship, trouble-shooting of equipment and overall support of the unit. The Clinical Resource Nurse assists staff in providing quality care and related quality assurance requirements by providing information based on theory/ best practice, assessing clinical/technical skills and participating in direct patient care as appropriate, in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures. The Clinical Resource Nurse will utilize the competency by design framework and tools to support and mentor the nursing staff as they advance their skills. The Clinical Resource Nurse will work in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Educators to understand the support and mentorship requirements for individual nursing staff that are advancing their skills and working on competency checklists. The Clinical Resource Nurse will provide a consistently high level of mentoring to ensure clinical practice standards are understood, implemented, and adhered to. The Clinical Resource Nurse will provide high quality operational support to teams, and support the staff to feel empowered, educated, included, and valued. To influence how care is delivered to optimize the use of resources, improve the quality of care, optimize patient experience, address inequity, and maximize flexibility in service delivery. This position will support the competency by design framework and competency checklist which is required to utilize as nursing staff advance their competencies and skills

Experience

  • 5 years recent exp in L&D nursing with 1 year in an educational/leadership role

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Other Education and Training

  • Current CPR certification
  • Nursing diploma is acceptable
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certificate (NRP)
