Job Description: Reporting to the Manager of Primary Health, the Nurse Practitioner will: provides clinical support related to high risk behaviours of population; provides chronic disease management and treatment of common medical problems for people who have significant barriers to accessing health care; supports referrals to other health services as needed. Work reflects understanding of determinants of health that influence health in the core neighborhoods. Works with Health Care, Community and Intersectoral partners such as Public Health and EMS department of Social Work to improve the health of citizens in Saskatoon core neighborhoods. Has an increased understanding and sensitivity to aboriginal culture and effects on health care delivery. Demonstrates capacity to engage people in health enhancing education, activities and services.

Human Resources Exemption: No

Experience

  • Three (3) years full-time experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Two (2) years advanced RN (NP) in applicable area

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Other Education and Training

  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
  • Nursing diploma is acceptable
