Job Description: We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Nutrition student for a summer employment opportunity in long term care (LTC). The student will have the chance to gain hands-on experience in nutrition services while contributing to the development and implementation of nutrition programs. This is an excellent opportunity for a university student to work in a supportive, professional LTC environment and build valuable skills in the field of nutrition and dietetics. The RD will provide direct supervision during nutrition assessments, client interactions, and when developing nutrition programs. Regular one-on-one meetings with both RD ad FSM will be scheduled to discuss ongoing projects, answer questions, and provide feedback on work. The student will be encouraged to ask questions and will be mentored through various tasks to develop both practical and theoretical knowledge in nutrition. Opportunities for shadowing the dietitian in client consultations and workshops will be provided to gain real-world experience.

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
  • Completion of at least one year of university-level courses in nutrition or a related area is preferred.

Other Education and Training:

  • Familiarity with dietary needs of older adults considered an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in nutrition program development and implementation
  • Conduct food satisfaction surveys with residents
  • Create nutrition-related educational materials
  • Participate in nutrition assessments (under supervision)
  • Help plan and execute nutrition workshops, presentations, or staff events
  • Assist in reviewing and updating nutrition resources
  • Provide administrative support to the dietitian and food service supervisor
  • Attend team meetings and collaborate with health professionals to enhance nutrition care

  • Interest in community nutrition, public health, or wellness programs.
