Surgical Assistant for Ophthalmologist

Job Description

The Conlon Eye Institute (CEI) team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, is seeking applications from highly skilled and motivated General Practitioners (GPs) to assist in ophthalmic surgeries, particularly in oculoplastic procedures. No prior surgical experience is necessary, as we will provide comprehensive training. This part-time role offers the opportunity to develop specialized surgical skills while maintaining flexibility in your schedule.

Key Responsibilities

You will assist the ophthalmologist during oculoplastic surgical procedures, perform pre-operative assessments, and help with patient preparation. You will also provide post-operative care and management, collaborate with the ophthalmology team to ensure high standards of patient care, maintain accurate medical records and patient documentation, and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.

Job Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must be registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) and possess an active medical licence in the province of Saskatchewan. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial. We seek a candidate with a strong interest in ophthalmology and surgical assisting who is eager to learn and undergo training in oculoplastic procedures. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills, along with the ability to provide compassionate, patient-focused care.
