Based out of St Francis Secondary School, the Kitchen Assistant under the direction of the principal assists in maintaining safe, clean, and efficient operations of the school cafeteria. This role requires maintaining cleanliness and performing food service tasks in a professional kitchen equipped with various operating machines, catering to a full-service cafeteria serving 400 people daily. The Kitchen assistant engages with students and a contractor. The ideal candidate for this role is collaborative, flexible, and is able to adapt to various environments and tasks within the setting of a busy school cafeteria.

Essential Qualifications

• Experience working in a high-volume commercial or institutional food service setting including restaurants, coffee shops, etc.
• Experience performing cleaning duties in a school or large multi-use buildings.
• Experience working with Youth would be considered an asset.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Additional information

Conditions of Employment:

• Security Clearance, including vulnerable sector check
• TB testing
• Food Safe Level I certification (to be obtained within 6 months)
• Standard First Aid (to be obtained within 6 months)

Job Requirements:

• This position works onsite in a school environment
• Ability to bend, stand, and lift up to 50lbs
