Job Summary and Requirements

This is for one (1) Permanent Part-Time at the Thompson Centre, working 37.5 hours bi-weekly. Also, to be used to fill anticipatory full-time/part time permanent, term positions that may become available.

This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.

Our team

Long-Term Care (LTC) provides resident centered care to individuals who requires assistance/care in various level in their daily living activities that creates a feeling of home belonging for all who live in Yukon Continuing care homes though responsiveness to the uniqueness of each resident. The services vary from intermediate to end of life care (Hospice) where the focus is on the care, comfort, and quality of life of a person with a serious illness who is approaching the end of life.

Your Role

We are looking for a dynamic individual to provide clinical care services for clients who require therapy services in the Long-Term Care. The Physiotherapist is responsible for providing professional physiotherapy services including: resident assessment, treatment/interventions, development of comprehensive care plans for individuals of all ages with a broad range of physical and psycho-social disabilities to enhance, maintain or restore each client's ability to function at an optimal level in all chosen roles. The physiotherapist will work to build positive working relationships with key stakeholders based on mutual trust and respect and work collaboratively with other health care professionals and community partners.

Essential qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Master's degree in Physical Therapy
  • Experience as a Physiotherapist, providing assessment and treatment preferably in a community environment is an asset
  • Experience working in rural communities is an asset

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.

  • TB screening
  • WHMIS 2015
  • CPR Level C (within last 18 months)
  • Vulnerable Sector RCMP Security Clearance
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
  • Licensed to work in Yukon as a Physiotherapist.


Job requirements

  • Exposure to animals in the Pet Therapy program
  • Second hand smoke
  • Exposure to latex products
  • Travel within the territory during adverse weather conditions may be required
  • Travel to and from the communities may be apart of this role.
